In this article, I will explain about how fast is Goku in Dragon Ball.
Goku is faster than a blink, but is there a measure of how fast can Goku run? The mystery of Goku’s speed has troubled all anime and manga fans for too long, it’s time to really answer how speedy the greatest protector of Earth can be?
Goku is the protagonist of the Dragon Ball anime and manga series. He is a pure-blood Saiyan, created and developed by Akira Toriyama. He is known for god-like speed, strength and pure heart.
So without further ado, let’s discover the actual value of Goko’s speed.
How Fast is Goku in Dragon Ball Series?
Goku’s speed doesn’t have a constant measure; rather, it has kept increasing with the development of Goku’s ability and his character’s journey. The top speed of the mightiest fighter in Dragon Ball Super Saiyan goes up to 334630130.9588907361 miles per hour when dashes across the Snake Way.
Let’s Look at the Calculations Here.
Snake Way is approximately 625,000 miles long and takes Goku177 days (4248 hours) to cross it. However, while returning, he enters Super Saiyan, which helps him cross the Snake Way in just 2 days (48 hours).
Since Goku flew across the path while returning, the distance got hlaf (312,500 miles). With this, the calculated speed is 11160.7142857 miles/hour
- Distance/ time = Speed
- 312,500/ 28 = 11160.7142857
Note: The speed calculated is in relation to Goku’s Power level during the Snake Way chapter, i.e. 5000.
This speed is divided by 5 to get 2,232.1428571428 mph (Power level 1000). Thus for every 1000 units of his power level, Goku’s speed goes up by 2,232.1428571428 miles/hour!
Now, the division of the highest combat speed of humans (45 mph) and travel speed (28 mph) results in a 1.6x the original speed.
Thus, on putting this equation to Goku’s speed, we get his top speed in Super Saiyan, 3571.4285714 miles per hour at a floor braking power level of 150 million!
Here Goku moves at half of the light speed.
Calculation: 2232.142857125 × 1.6 = 3571.4285714

MUI and Instant Transmission Speed of Goku
Like any other character in Anime, Goku too, has unlocked multiple forms and fighting techniques within him. Each stage comes with a unique set of unique features like power capacity, reflexes, techniques and even new abilities.
Here the Mastered Ultra Instinct speed and Instant Transmission speed are discussed.
Goku’s Mastered Ultra Instinct (MUI) Speed
Ultra Instinct techniques allow its user to go beyond the physical body by separating the consciousness such that they can fight independently.
Once mastered, it increases the speed by an unimaginable fold. This means Goku’s ultra instinct transformation allows him to be 20-40 times faster than in Super Saiyan form.
Note: Goku unlocks his ultra instinct form in episode 110.
Instant Transmission Speed
The ability to use instant transmission will allow the user and those in physical contact with them to travel a great distance. It is somewhat like teleporting to different universes, planets, worlds or cities.
This ability of instant transmission makes it next to impossible to determine its speed. In other words, it is limitless.
However, there is a good mathematical assumption that can unravel how swift this teleportation can be.
Let us explore this theory.
With Goku’s high potential, he can easily hop from one end of the Milky Way to the other. This means he covers a distance of 105700 light years.
To do so, he will need to go at 10000000000000000000000000000 miles/second! No wonder no one can beat Goku!
Can Goku Beat Light Speed?
As mentioned earlier, Goku’s speed exponentially increases as he unlocks various forms and ablitiltes in him. This brings us to the question can the fastest character of anime beat the speed of light?
Well, it is no surprise that Goku has unlocked his potential to go as fast as light speed. At various instances, he is seen deflecting laser beams that were targeted toward him. To be able to do so, his instincts and reaction timing must be faster than the speed of light.
Light travels at a speed of 186,000 miles per second, and if Goku can defend against 100 death beams, he has to at least be travelling at a speed of 1,000,000 miles/second.
When did Goku Surpass the Speed of Light?
To pinpoint when Goku actually got faster than light is tricky. However, many believe by the time he was fighting Frieza, he had already surpassed the fastest thing in the universe: Light.
Goku has sharpened his skills, body, mind and battle IQ by practicing under 10x and 100x higher gravitational force.
He ultimately mastered his Ultra instinct, giving him the advantage to use his full body on the battlefield and accelerating his speed as a by-product.
By the time Goku is at Babidi Sage Arc, he is utilizing a 10 Billion Power level boosting his peed to 22.321 trillion mph. This is 33314 times quicker than light.
FAQs on Goku Speed
The top calculated speed of Goku is 334630130.9588907361 mph. However, he can definitely go beyond it as the story develops, but no mathematical statement assures it.
Goku’s speed isn’t infinite, but it is really high and increases as he trains, improves and develops in the manga and anime.
Goku is way faster than Flash, as he can move in space where time is eliminated. This is shown in chapter 26 of Dragon Ball Super.
Goku is way faster than Naruto as he can swiftly move across a galaxy. Even at the slowest speed, Goku will be leaps ahead of Naruto.
Goku eventually became immune to the Time-Skip with Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-Ken mode. Earlier in the manga, he was not strong enough to make an impact on the Time-Skip against Hit, but he could shorten the limit of Time-Skip in Super Saiyan God form.
Goku is fast, unimaginably fast. He can leap across the world in a few seconds and even escape 100s of laser beams with one hand. With this, one should note that his swiftness is not infinite, no matter how rapidly Goku can run. It will be affected by the form he is using, the state of his physical body, and his emotional health.
